In 2006 I was searching the web trying to find a way to make our inside tree change from Red to Green to Blue. I think I found what I was looking for, and then some.

We have been doing the display since we moved to Bismarck in 2006.

How many lights are in the display?
About 28,000 lights

How much power does it take?
Still calculating..... Our display has almost been completely converted to LED lighting technology so our power consumption should be lower than one would expect.

How do you get the radio station to control your lights?
The audio is broadcast from a small FM transmitter hooked to a computer that controls the display.

How Many Extension Cords Does Your Display Take?
The Display uses about 300 extension cords totaling about 2000'

How Long Does It Take?
The displays programming and planning is worked on, on and off all year. Actual set up and testing time is about a week and a half.

How Do You Control the Lights?
The lights are computer controlled with lighting software that communicates lighting commands to control boxes.

How Do You Keep Your Flat Screen TV Dry?
 The "flat screen" TV is actually a 2x4 frame with a shower curtain liner liner stapled on it. There is a projector inside projecting the video onto the curtain liner.
